Thank you Akash and D Fosse. I have tried the second of the suggestions, which was to change the colour space of the document within the ACR window using the blue link at the bottom. As soon as i swap that to ProPhotoRGB (it has always been set to sRGB), the histogram no longer clips the shadows and looks like the one in Lightroom. Thank you again for taking the time to answer. Good afternoon from England. For a little while i have been processing my photos using Camera Raw in photoshop (opening canon raw files from photomechanic). I recently got Lightroom back up and running and have noticed that the histogram in Camera Raw looks different to the one in Lightroom. Not just the appearance which doesn't matter to me, but the actual histogram information from the photo i have opened is shown differently in the two programs. In my test photo ACR shows some shadow clipping whereas lightroom doesn't. This could make me process a photo differently, in this case brightening the photo when i don't need to. I have attached some reference images. The photo has been processed and the edits are saved to an XMP Sidecar file so everything should be the same in ACR and Lightroom. Thanks for all your replies. Very much appreciated and very helpful. I will avoid using Bicubic Sharper in future then as it seems that it is not the best option to use. A friend of mine one told me he resizes for sharing online and then creates a new layer and adds a smart sharpen filter to it but I find that too agressive as well. I do mostly bird photos so a lot of fine edges in the birds feathers. Plus aviation too where there’s fine detail on the bodywork but also lots of plain panels with no detail.

When I resize an image down from its full resolution to one for sharing online, I use 2048 pixels longest edge, I always tick the downsample box and choose bicubic sharper. When I do this the image preview (showing the smaller version) looks noticeably sharper than when I untick the box. Is there some sort of sharpening going on just by choosing Bicubic Sharper or is it always worth sharpening the resized image with something like smart sharpen after resizing?

I’ve just captured two more screenshots making sure the frames are the same. The non scaled version is visibly far superior to the scaled one. Peoples faces are noticeably sharper. Therefore I am going to remove all scaling on the project and love wit it being slightly un level. I would prefer this than a loss of quality. Thanks for your answers.

It should be exactly the same frame as i copied the timecode from the first. However, i can see there's a small difference. And yes you are right, they won't know but i like to produce the best footage i can and if that means not scaling it then that's what i'll do.

Top image is scaled to 103% and bottom is 100%. It's hard to see on here but they lady on the left with the striped outfit on looks sharper in the unscaled image (at the bottom) than in the scaled one both in PP and here on the screenshots. I'd have said the lady in blue looks sharper in the bottom one too.

Hi. I am currently editing a video of our village panto and i have noticed that i haven't quite got my tripod head perfectly level so the whole thing is ever so slightly unlevel. To remedy this i changed the rotation to -1 but as a result one corner of the footage is now just black space where the image has moved. So to counter that i changed the scale to 103%. I didn't think this would affect the quality in any way that would be noticeable but having reviewed the footage i can see an obvious difference. Is it this Scale percentage that's ruining the quality? My footage is 1920x1080i 25fps pal. Thank you in advance.
